A moving adaptation of a cherished classic

Set in the Deep South, this timeless story based on Harper Lee’s beloved Pulitzer Prize-winning novel is told through the eyes of Scout, the feisty young daughter of lawyer Atticus Finch. As a tug-of-war between justice and racism envelops the community, Atticus and his family face violence and hatred with courage and compassion. Full of heart and depth, this cherished classic takes the stage immediately following the release of Lee’s Mockingbird sequel.

Shakespeare’s great tragedy of sweeping passions and murderous jealousy is a thrilling meditation about the power of love and the destructiveness of doubt and suspicion, triggered by one of literature’s most manipulative villains: Iago. Tony and Drama Desk Award nominee and Obie Award winner Marion McClinton, best-known for his Broadway and regional productions of August Wilson’s plays, directs this devastating story of cultural diversity, race, and the complexities of ambition and trust. This marks the first production in two decades of Shakespeare’s classic on the Guthrie’s signature thrust stage. Regina Marie Williams plays the role of Emilia.

Victory Memorial Parkway

I've attached a Mapquest map of 34th Ave. N and the Parkway that may be helpful.

http://www.mapquest.com/#d68b44e52ef81d2c34896195

Here are some extra hints, too:

-Many people may be familiar with Wirth Parkway. Wirth Parkway turns into Victory Memorial Drive as you go farther north -- so if people travel from south to north on Wirth Parkway they'll eventually end up at 34th Ave. N. and the Victory Memorial Drive.

-This location is about one block north of North Memorial Hospital - on the parkway.

-There are new gateways/monuments as you enter the "Drive" from most directions. These are good landmarks.

-There's generally plenty of street parking on Xerxes Ave. N and surrounding blocks.

- People can contact the Cleveland Neighborhood Association for directions:

Irish Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney delivers an exquisite adaptation of Sophocles' Antigone, reviving the Greek tale of love and self-sacrifice for today's theatergoer. As with the original, The Burial at Thebes focuses on the never resolved conflict between a person's individual rights and the demands of the state. The timeless struggle for honor is called into question in the face of challenging authority: to whom does loyalty belong - to one's family and cultural practices or to the law decreed by the state? Under the direction of Marcela Lorca, whose critically-acclaimed production of Caroline, or Change captivated Guthrie audiences, The Burial at Thebes features original music by composer J.D. Steele of legendary Steele family fame, infusing this ancient tragedy a modern edge.
